Auction details:
- Bidder Verification: No registration is required to place a bid. However, bidders need to be verified through an email, phone call or personal connection. Once a bidder is verified, they are provided a password for entering the Auction Hall and an anonymous screen-name for bidding.
- Fiscal Disclosure: Tree to Sea and the Surfer’s Guide to the Universe are not-for-profit, educational endeavors but do NOT, at present, have formal 501(c)3 nonprofit status. Therefore, a tax-deduction for purchasing “Pelagic Pulses” is not available. However, your bid will be applied toward exploring and establishing, formal, nonprofit status and exemptions for future support may be possible.
- Anonymity: Email addresses will NOT be visible (only the chosen screen name will be) and will never be given or sold to third parties. If a bidder wishes to remain anonymous they must provide an alternate but valid email address of an agent with the power to bid and communicate on their behalf.
- Proxy Bidding: This auction offers optional, automatic, incremental bidding (aka proxy bidding). See here for description of how proxy bidding works.
- Final Gavel: The Auction closes on Friday, July 31 at 9:00PM Eastern Standard Time. This may change.
- Technical Policy: In the event of a server-side technical problem (as opposed to end-user error), the three highest bidders at auction closing will be allowed to submit a final “write-in” bid offline. The highest of these three bids will win the auction.
