Announcing a Weekend Studio Workshop near Atlanta, GA
From this warm indoor workshop you’ll go home with your dream board ready for final sanding and glassing.
- The Venue: The workshop will be held in a studio space at the Artisan Resource Center in Marietta, GA (about 20 miles north of Atlanta). We’ll clear out a big enough space to work in buddy teams and have access to a variety of tools and surfaces. Nearby, Downtown Marietta Square is a bustling little community with some great cafes and restaurants where we can take glue drying breaks and order out lunch each day.
The Host: The host for this workshop is professional woodworker/furniture maker and ex-surfer Kurt Raschke. You can check out his awesome work at www.krwoodworking.com. Kurt will be your point of contact and can advise you with local knowledge such as directions, parking, restaurants, lodging, etc. Connect with Kurt via email at limetruk@gmail.com .
The Price: Total Workshop price is calculated as $400+$50/foot.
What’s included: One of Rich’s design templates (or custom designs are available for $50 arranged ahead of time), pre-cut internal frames, all the wood that you’ll need (sustainably harvested Paulownia and cedar), a rocker table, all tools (but participants are encouraged to bring their own if they have them), glues, and fasteners, finboxes and board vents.
What’s NOT included: Food (bring your own or get locally), lodging, epoxy fiberglassing, & fins (I assume you’ll be glassing on your fins, and can advise on fins and fin placement. You may use excess wood for shaping fins, but fins are not technically included)
