Wood Densities

Here's a list of some common wood densities. Those more often used for HWS building are highlighted for quick reference. Keep in mind that the densities of different woods can vary quite a bit depending upon where and how fast they're grown, species, age, moisture percentage etc. This is just a rough guide to help aid in lumber selection. Eventually, it would be nice to accumulate the tensile, compressive, shear, flex and other strength indicators. That information is out there but needs to be gathered, so if you have a chance and want to update and reload the excel file here, feel free to do so.
